World Animal Day Awareness stall Saturday 6th October 11am-4pm

Thank you to everyone that helped at this stall, it went very well with a very positive response from the public.
We handed out lots of different leaflets and had many different petitions signed on subjects such as snaring,
the gassing and snaring of badgers, the Canadian seal slaughter, Proctor and Gamble and Animal Testing.

We also asked the public to sign cards that were sent to their MP asking them to sign Early Day Motion 1040
which calls for an end to the government’s support of the slaughter of black bears for ceremonial caps.
Donations were collected to go towards the cost of sending the postcards with over 90 postcards sent and
£63.50 in donations received from generous members of the public. The money left over from the stamps was
divided between 3 charities, with £10.00 sent to PETA, British Hedgehog Preservation society and Naturewatch
who organised World Animal Day. Some of the money was also used to buy food items for Rescuers Wildlife
Sanctuary as unfortunately only 1 item was donated to the collection box on our stall. Below are a couple of
photos taken of our stall. There are other photos of the stall which will be up on the World Animal Day website
very soon: http://www.worldanimalday.org.uk/index.asp

Veggie Information Meat Out stall to be moved to next year

It has been quite difficult to get this idea off the ground to have a stall with free veggie/vegan hot food
samples. Southend Borough Council has advised that November the 24th is free for us to use the top of the
high street but has also advised that we will also have to register ourselves as a food business even though it
is for a day. I advised the council of this and they said the farmer market traders have to do the same even
though they are there for one day. The Vegetarian Society also advised that a disposable BBQ would not be
sufficient. We are going to contact other members of the Vegetarian society to advise what equipment they
use, but if anyone has any good suggestions themselves on what would be easy to use and keep food piping
hot then please get in contact. As we have come against lots of problems and this time of year is already very
busy we have decided to do this stall next year instead.
